Hi Elaine!

I was listening to a health show on the radio and they were talking about something called Moducare that supposed to be good for the immune system. It doesn't stimulate it supposedly but strengths it? Also I was wondering about Quercitin and Bromelaine? Since being hypo, it seems I am more susceptible to colds, etc...why is that? It seems a lot of people who are hypo complain of chronic sinus infections etc. Would any of these be bad for Graves?I feel good on the Co-Q 10 and l-carnatine. No heart palps, racing, but I have some energy now without the heart issues.

Hi Brans,

Moducare is an excellent product. I discuss the benefits of immunomodulators like Moducare in my book on Graves' disease. There are many products out with similar benefits so you might want to compare products and ingredients to price. Most contain plant sterols and sterolins.

Quercetin and bromelain are recommended by Dr. Andrew Weil to help slow down the allergic response. I''ve been taking them for years. Bromelain is also a good digestive enzyme and both of these nutrients help reduce inflammation. They're very good supplements for most everyone. Another excellent supplement in this family is alpha-lipoic acid. Studies show that L-carnitine and alpha lipoic acid increase energy and mental function in older patients. Best, Elaine
