Hi Kim,
Since your side effects (elevated heart rate) haven't subsided I don't see where a higher dose will help. Most people aren't depressed on Adderall and in fact feel somewhat elated. But we're all different. Adderall, like ephedrine, usually benefits respiration although it's a mild effect. It could be that with your weight loss, you ATD dose is too high as depression is one of the most common early symptoms of hypothyroidism.
If your Adderall is a tablet rather than a capsule, you could try taking 1/2 of the dose if your new RX is for 30 mg. Perhaps that, an a lowering of your ATD, would make a difference.
Some people have fewer side effects on Dexedrine compared to Adderall, but they both contain the same basic drug. in some ways, Adderall can be milder although the dose is higher. It doesn't sound like your doctor wants to switch meds. good luck with the brown recluses. hopefully the weather will cool soon. best, elaine
