I'm so sorry to hear of your loss Elaine, my thoughts are with you and your family.
I have a question in regards to my 8 year daughter and wonder if I should be concerned. Back in June of this year my daughter was experiencing some chest pain during physical activity (mostly noticed during swimming lessons) then one morning she awoke crying about her chest hurting. When I felt of her chest I noticed her little heart was racing so I called the doctor. When we arrived her heart rate was 130 and they seemed to be focused on her heart and doing a EKG and Chest X-Ray. I was thankfully they wanted to rule all that out. However, I asked if they thought she could have thyroid problems since I have Graves disease and was first diagnosed right after my pregnancy with my daughter and they said no but if I wanted they could check her thyroid levels. So, I agreed.
They only checked her T4 and TSH
TSH-0.092 rr 0.600-6.180
T4-1.30 rr0.81-1.68
The doctor told me all was normal and that they were only concerned about her T4 level and since it was normal everything was fine.
Should I be concerned? What is a reason that an 8 year old would have low TSH? Is there something I should be looking for else where? I'm just really worried since after my birth to her my T3 and T4 were in range but my TSH was low and I was having severe hyper symptoms. They ENDO diagnosed me with HYPER even though I had normal T3 and T4 at the time. (of course they were high normal)
I'm just very worried. She is always complaining of being tired, and always seems to look sleepy to me as well. She is also pretty little for her age, very skinny but she has been very skinny since the beginning.
I do plan to call her doctor again to see if they will agree to re-test her levels even though they told me everything was normal. I'm just very worried about it and don't want to let it go in case something is wrong and she needs treatment.
Thanks so much for your input and help..I'm a very worrying mother :)
