Elaine,
Thank you for your response regarding corneal astigmatism and proptosis. I was wondering, is there anyway for a doctor to tell if you have edema which is causing the astigmatism? I had a corneal topography and was told my cornea looks healthy but my left eye has a significant astigmatism. After checking with my optomotrist, my astigmatism correction was 1.75 in the left eye a year ago. I don't think that is significant, is it? Would the topography show any signs of edema or swelling?
Do you know of a good opthalmologist in Phoenix who deals with Grave's? I have seen two specialist but they are both plastics doctors and don't seem to really offer much in the way of treatment. I cannot have prednisone because my IOP is elevated and I am at risk for glaucoma. The Grave's specialist I saw even said the elevated IOP was not a result of my proptosis though it only started six months ago when all my TED symptoms worsened.
Do you have any suggestions on how to find someone who REALLY understands Grave's disease and treats it?
Debbie
