Hi Elaine,
I have a question regarding the neo-mercazole I am taking.
I was firstly put onto 20mg of the neo-mercazole because I had mild Graves disease. I have been on this medication for a little over a month now and just had a recent blood test about a week and a half ago to see where I'm at now.
I called my Endo yesterday to find out if I needed to change the dosage in light of my new test results. All he told me over the phone was to stop taking the neo-mercazole for a few days and then recommence with it at 5mg a day. I did what he asked up until I started having heart palpitations and feeling terrible and then decided just to start the 5mg then.
Today I was even worse. I was dizzy and weak in the shower and was still getting heart palpitations. My hands were trembling and I felt pretty much the same as when I was first diagnosed with Graves Disease. I guess you could say I have lost all faith in my Endo now. He never listens to my concerns, and when I tried calling him to get my results it took 5 calls before he called me back.
Being the weekend and knowing that this could be a major setback for me if I didn't make some serious choices fast I decided to go back to my 20mg a day until I can see my own Doctor and get some new tests run. I know it was the wrong thing to do, but I can't help but feel that he put me on a dosage that was way to low and my thyroid acted up again.
According to my Endo my results are just below normal. If that's the case why did my thyroid totally freak out when I cut back to 5mg?
